Donate Jen Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Jen Brown Memorial Scholarship was established to honour the memory of Jen Brown who in May 2020 passed away far too early. This scholarship is offered exclusively for participants, current or previous, in Woodview's mental health and autism programs.

Jen always advocated for her clients and their families. She passionately believed that barriers could be overcome and everyone could achieve their dreams. Jen knew she wanted to do more. And so she took the courageous leap and said goodbye to her Woodview family to pursue her dreams of becoming a lawyer in order to continue to fight for the underdog.

Woodview wanted to ensure we memorialize Jen’s memory of going above and beyond with a scholarship to help students achieve their dreams of higher education. As part of the Woodview way we want to support our communities in developing resiliency, well-being and independence. We hope this scholarship can offer additional support and celebrate others in their journey.

He was looking forward to coming home and working with his family. However, on August 22, 1999, in Midland Michigan, Christopher Jason Lockwood tragically lost his life. To ensure his name and memory would never fade, Christopher’s family started the Fund almost immediately after his passing. Now twenty years on, The Christopher Lockwood Fund, has made a meaningful impact on the lives of many and continues to create a powerful legacy in our community. Eventually, the Family hopes to establish a home for those in need in his honour, but in the meantime, they continue to help countless students with scholarships so they can pursue their dreams.

Don graduated with a Business Degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1957. He married his wife Marilyn that same year and they remained happily married for 63 years. He also served on the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business and was a founding member of the Oakville Community Foundation.

Don was a lifelong learner and avid crossword fan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, travel and golf, but it was his family that he nurtured and cherished and that gave him his greatest joy in life. He loved nothing more than Sunday night suppers with his family gathered around him.

Donate Weatherdon Fund for Early and Lifelong Nutrition
Brian and Virginia Weatherdon chose to create this fund with the Oakville Community Foundation to strategically address Family and Lifelong Nutrition in connection with the development of personal/household food skills, healthy social connection, and opportunity to share such experience among family and friends, thus easing hunger and instilling confidence presently and for future years and generations.
This Funds focus aims beyond food charity to train vulnerable families and households, to enhance nutrition now, year-round, and inter-generationally. The focus on family and child-nutrition has provided funds for cooperative training programs (purchasing, preparing, complementing foods to inexpensively enhance nutrition), also to teach home/community gardening, gifting equipment to a community hub of such training, also supporting a community worker central to such initiatives. In addition, the fund supports seniors’ nutrition and socialization: eg. a mid-week seniors’ lunch program. Such grants as they are made, help guide and inform future funding decisions. While immediate food-relief remains vital in our community, this fund aims specifically to advance simple and strategic food-skills in home and community, which can be shared and replicated easily among friends and next generations.
Support from this Fund benefits Children, Families, Singles and Seniors, residing in/near Oakville and Halton Region.
